Construction
of a Writers' Mind - Organized by Writer and Social Potpourrian Meenu Mehrotra
was a meet that should have been organized a long time ago. We have come to
that conclusion after witnessing the amount of interest in the subject and the
footfalls at Kunzum Cafe on the morning of July 28th.
When Meenu
organized the meet at www.socialpotpourri .com she had written that the meet
would be about "Delving into the mind of the writer as he constructs a book & creates
characters- the emotion, mood, subject, everything that forms a part of the
writer's landscape. Come, be a part of this unusual discovery with Vikrant
Dutta- the first Indian author to write a novel in ballad form- ODE TO DIGNITY
& Meenu Mehrotra, the author of SUNLIT HEARTS, a realistic, romance novel
about self realization, redemption & renewal."
But it was
much more than any one of us thought it would be. True to the Social Potpourri
meet this one too became a personal journey for the writers as well as the participants.
Vikrant took a bombardment of questions with ease and charm even while some
remarks bordered on challenges put forward to him. He made the event a
delightful journey into his life and how he came to writing "Ode to Dignity". Vikrant's
mother, who was present at the meet, made it even more enjoyable and personal by
sharing heartfelt stories of Vikrant as a kid. She had the entire room laughing
at the stories.
This was the
second time Social Potpourrians were meeting Meenu Mehrotra and getting familiar
with her "Sunlit Heart" but the enthusiasm at the meet and for her book makes it
look like she is going to be in demand for many more meets to come.
For all who were
not able to make it to this Social Potpourri meetup, we will let the movie say
the rest.
