Social Potpourri makes it their own business to support and encourage
companies and individuals who are responsible towards the society in particular
and the earth in general. Color D Earth is our Business Potpourrian of the Week
because of that peculiar itch we have.
This company works with terracotta artisan groups from all
over India who handcraft this exquisite jewelry. The result of this painstaking
effort and meaningful collaboration finds a place in Color D Earth's retail
store at GVK ONE Mall, Hyderabad.
Midday once quoted the founder, Hema S Subramanyam, as saying "Terracotta
jewellery will never go out of season. It has more character than silver and
gold. Terracotta jewellery cuts across all age-groups. Women in their 50's
enjoy wearing it as much as do the college-going girls,"
Social Potpourri likes to agree with that even more because
it supports the artisans around India whose bread and butter lie in the art
form. It is because of ventures such as Color D Earth that they not only
survive but live with hope.
Hema's passion and determination got fired up after a clay workshop
which she attended so she followed that up with a course on terracotta jewelry. There was no looking back for her
since then. Her enterprise started with just two people and now supports 120 artisans from different parts of the
country.
That terracotta is made from river bed clay is not the only thing
we learned when we visited their page at https://www.facebook.com/Color.D.Earth.
We encourage all our members and followers to
visit the link above and
absorb what one can do with passion without hurting the Earth! We wish Color D
Earth every success in the future!
